Naturally, it's that time of year to begin the most dreadful of the dreaded. Dress shopping. I'm not quite sure why but, dress shopping is almost as bad as jean shopping. Especially when sales associates add to one of my greatest pet peeves. Let's paint a picture for you, shall we? I walk into the store with a dress I already had in mind to try on. Grab it, find an associate for opinion's sake, and that's when shit hits the fan. The conversation goes as following,
Me- "Does my butt look big?"
Associate- "GUYS LOVE THAT!"
Hold up.
it's fascinating to me that women are designed to connect everything about themselves to mens desires. I don't blame this woman, I blame society, really. Since when did we stop dressing for ourselves and start dressing for men? It was quite apparent that this dress wasn't the perfect fit for my body and a simple, "Maybe this dress would look better" would have done it. Am I so typical to have asked that question concerning my butt? Perhaps. But it brought me to this thought, and I can thank myself, the associate, and the dress for that. In other news, although this incident bothered me for about a day and a half, it directed me back to this page. I missed you, JEGER.

And we're off..
Yesterday was the beginning of New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion week. I must say, it was quite invigorating sitting in class and hiding my phone from my professors to get a first look at some of the shows through an amazing tool i like to call instagram. Yes, it hurts not to be in New York during this annual historic fashion event BUT I will be there next year. Don't you worry. Since i'm no where near the actual fashion shows, the next best thing is my macbook. Thanks to Style I can keep up with the lastest runway shows and see what's coming up for the Resort collections. A few of my favorites yesterday had to be Kimberly Ovitz, Rachel Comey, and Tadashi Shoji.
Here, Kimberly Ovitz kicks ass with basic colors such as black and white and a simple but edgy approach to design in her dresses, knits, and bottoms.
Next, Rachel Comey comes in with beautiful feminine silhouettes paired with inspiration from mens suits. The floral and metallics are a perfect touch for the fall.
Lastly, Tadashi Shoji presents her "little house on the prairie" turned sexy dresses combined with lace and bold autumn colors.
Gimme more!

First look
Here's the first look Scott Schuman had posted during last year's MBFW. I'm impatiently waiting for his shots from the upcoming week so i figured the best way to calm myself down is to look through all his shots from 2011. Time well spent, trust me.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has arrived!
September for most may seem like it's the beginning of school, work, winter, and real life but for me and many others it's the long awaited time for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Although I've never actually attended MBFW, I do however follow all the fashion shows and my favorite, street shots, taken during fashion week. Tomorrow is the official first day of fashion shows and there is a great line-up consisting of BCBG Max Azria, Nicholas K, Richard Chai, Kaelen, Chadwick Bell, Tadashi Shoji and the lovely, Monika Chiang. Since i'm especially excited to see Kaelen's Spring 2013 collection I decided it would be appropriate to put together a few of my favorite looks from Kaelen's Fall collection. Suits, lace, color block, and metallics. What's up for next season?

Chloe for miu miu
Chloe Sevigny, actress, fashion designer and former model from our neck of the woods, Massachusetts, is the new face of miu miu's fall/winter campaign. Sevigny was definitely an appropriate choice by miu miu because of her eccentric style and ability to play with prints and textures just as well as miu miu. Here's a video from the campaign that helps you get a better look at how perfect this is.
The things i'd do to be the person behind the camera.

The Staple Jaquette
It may still be August but it is indeed coming to an end. Although these summer months have brought us some great jesus sandals, parachute shorts, and (my favorite) muscle tank by Mr. Wang. We are now moving onto bigger and chunkier things. Fall is without a doubt my favorite of all seasons when it comes to fashion. There's nothing better than walking out and grabbing your favorite leather jacket or chunky sweater and making your way on to your daily ventures. The most important investment you should and will make for fall is your go-to jacket. your fall jacket may be anywhere from an actual jacket (utility recommended) all the way down to a great oversized blazer. Here are a few looks from the Resort 2013 runway shows that will give you a good idea of what you need.

Today's Inspo
One of my favorite bloggers, introduced to me by an inspiring lady, is the very stylish, Swedish, Elin Kling. She has made a business out of something so simple yet so complicated as blogging. She's known for styling basic pieces into not so basic outfits with an extremely effortless look. Here is a video I found done by H&M that basically follows Kling's life for a day. Just watch and see how brilliant she is.
