And we're off..

Yesterday was the beginning of New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion week. I must say, it was quite invigorating sitting in class and hiding my phone from my professors to get a first look at some of the shows through an amazing tool i like to call instagram. Yes, it hurts not to be in New York during this annual historic fashion event BUT I will be there next year. Don't you worry. Since i'm no where near the actual fashion shows, the next best thing is my macbook. Thanks to Style I can keep up with the lastest runway shows and see what's coming up for the Resort collections. A few of my favorites yesterday had to be Kimberly Ovitz, Rachel Comey, and Tadashi Shoji.

Here, Kimberly Ovitz kicks ass with basic colors such as black and white and a simple but edgy approach to design in her dresses, knits, and bottoms.

Next, Rachel Comey comes in with beautiful feminine silhouettes paired with inspiration from mens suits. The floral and metallics are a perfect touch for the fall.

Lastly, Tadashi Shoji presents her "little house on the prairie" turned sexy dresses combined with lace and bold autumn colors.

Gimme more!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has arrived!

September for most may seem like it's the beginning of school, work, winter, and real life but for me and many others it's the long awaited time for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Although I've never actually attended MBFW, I do however follow all the fashion shows and my favorite, street shots, taken during fashion week. Tomorrow is the official first day of fashion shows and there is a great line-up consisting of BCBG Max Azria, Nicholas K, Richard Chai, Kaelen, Chadwick Bell, Tadashi Shoji and the lovely, Monika Chiang. Since i'm especially excited to see Kaelen's Spring 2013 collection I decided it would be appropriate to put together a few of my favorite looks from Kaelen's Fall collection. Suits, lace, color block, and metallics. What's up for next season?

Get to the Point

Shoes are without a doubt the most important part of one's outfit. If there's one thing you will take out of this blog, take this. Investment pieces are worth it. Especially when they're classic pointy toe pumps, booties, or flats. These will never go out of style and will always add a little pizzaz to your life. Exhibit A-F. Alexander Wang's Sabine pumps. This pair would be your go-to pump. Ankle strap, mesh and point. Enough said. Sigerson Morrison does it right with the Rocko cap toe booties. I love love love anything with a hint of metallic silver for a rocker-esque look balanced with a sleek style. Next up is a whole lot of love with Elizabeth and James Sand metallic pumps. This pair would be your "look at my feet" shoe. It would pair well with anything from a dress to black skinny's with a blazer (leather trim recommended). Moving on to the practical and comfortable Alexander Wang Astrid cutout flat booties. Let's say you're not feeling like you want to murder your feet, you can pick up these lovelies and enjoy a day/night of endless activities! Same goes for the Sigerson Morrison Prelta outside zip booties. These are an alternative to black (which you may notice, I am a fan of) and it also has a nice croc-like design in the back. Ending this cluster of amazingness is the Elizabeth and James Sash snake d'Orsay pumps. It's two-tone. It has snake and it's metallic (and we know I feel about metallic).
