Naturally, it's that time of year to begin the most dreadful of the dreaded. Dress shopping. I'm not quite sure why but, dress shopping is almost as bad as jean shopping. Especially when sales associates add to one of my greatest pet peeves. Let's paint a picture for you, shall we? I walk into the store with a dress I already had in mind to try on. Grab it, find an associate for opinion's sake, and that's when shit hits the fan. The conversation goes as following,
Me- "Does my butt look big?"
Associate- "GUYS LOVE THAT!"
Hold up.
it's fascinating to me that women are designed to connect everything about themselves to mens desires. I don't blame this woman, I blame society, really. Since when did we stop dressing for ourselves and start dressing for men? It was quite apparent that this dress wasn't the perfect fit for my body and a simple, "Maybe this dress would look better" would have done it. Am I so typical to have asked that question concerning my butt? Perhaps. But it brought me to this thought, and I can thank myself, the associate, and the dress for that. In other news, although this incident bothered me for about a day and a half, it directed me back to this page. I missed you, JEGER.

And we're off..
Yesterday was the beginning of New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion week. I must say, it was quite invigorating sitting in class and hiding my phone from my professors to get a first look at some of the shows through an amazing tool i like to call instagram. Yes, it hurts not to be in New York during this annual historic fashion event BUT I will be there next year. Don't you worry. Since i'm no where near the actual fashion shows, the next best thing is my macbook. Thanks to Style I can keep up with the lastest runway shows and see what's coming up for the Resort collections. A few of my favorites yesterday had to be Kimberly Ovitz, Rachel Comey, and Tadashi Shoji.
Here, Kimberly Ovitz kicks ass with basic colors such as black and white and a simple but edgy approach to design in her dresses, knits, and bottoms.
Next, Rachel Comey comes in with beautiful feminine silhouettes paired with inspiration from mens suits. The floral and metallics are a perfect touch for the fall.
Lastly, Tadashi Shoji presents her "little house on the prairie" turned sexy dresses combined with lace and bold autumn colors.
Gimme more!

First look
Here's the first look Scott Schuman had posted during last year's MBFW. I'm impatiently waiting for his shots from the upcoming week so i figured the best way to calm myself down is to look through all his shots from 2011. Time well spent, trust me.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has arrived!
September for most may seem like it's the beginning of school, work, winter, and real life but for me and many others it's the long awaited time for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Although I've never actually attended MBFW, I do however follow all the fashion shows and my favorite, street shots, taken during fashion week. Tomorrow is the official first day of fashion shows and there is a great line-up consisting of BCBG Max Azria, Nicholas K, Richard Chai, Kaelen, Chadwick Bell, Tadashi Shoji and the lovely, Monika Chiang. Since i'm especially excited to see Kaelen's Spring 2013 collection I decided it would be appropriate to put together a few of my favorite looks from Kaelen's Fall collection. Suits, lace, color block, and metallics. What's up for next season?

Chloe for miu miu
Chloe Sevigny, actress, fashion designer and former model from our neck of the woods, Massachusetts, is the new face of miu miu's fall/winter campaign. Sevigny was definitely an appropriate choice by miu miu because of her eccentric style and ability to play with prints and textures just as well as miu miu. Here's a video from the campaign that helps you get a better look at how perfect this is.
The things i'd do to be the person behind the camera.

The Staple Jaquette
It may still be August but it is indeed coming to an end. Although these summer months have brought us some great jesus sandals, parachute shorts, and (my favorite) muscle tank by Mr. Wang. We are now moving onto bigger and chunkier things. Fall is without a doubt my favorite of all seasons when it comes to fashion. There's nothing better than walking out and grabbing your favorite leather jacket or chunky sweater and making your way on to your daily ventures. The most important investment you should and will make for fall is your go-to jacket. your fall jacket may be anywhere from an actual jacket (utility recommended) all the way down to a great oversized blazer. Here are a few looks from the Resort 2013 runway shows that will give you a good idea of what you need.

Today's Inspo
One of my favorite bloggers, introduced to me by an inspiring lady, is the very stylish, Swedish, Elin Kling. She has made a business out of something so simple yet so complicated as blogging. She's known for styling basic pieces into not so basic outfits with an extremely effortless look. Here is a video I found done by H&M that basically follows Kling's life for a day. Just watch and see how brilliant she is.

It's almost over!
The legendary Barneys New York has been having there warehouse sale this month and it is finally coming to an end. Fabulously enough there is still a good amount of cheap designer clothing, shoes & accessories left to snag! Here's a little collage I put together of my top picks for you all. Enjoi!

Balmain, I die.
Literally, this collection is ridiculous. I'm not sure how he does it but, Balmain's Fall 2012 collection is yet again, nothing less than exquisite. Olivier Rousteing has executed the composition of different textures, shapes, and designs, living up to his expectations after Christophe Decarnin's departure. Rousteing has most definitely figured out a way to fill Decarnin's cool shoes.

Support the Artisans
I'm not one to wear a lot of jewelry, but when I do, I try to support the hardworking artisans working their hands off to make unique pieces worth every penny. Below are a few of my recent favorites from Etsy.com. Check it!

Here Comes the Bride
So, I'm not a huge wedding person but naturally the thought of what I would wear has crossed my mind thanks to hours of re-runs of "Say Yes to the Dress". Here's a few options that may be a bit "unconventional" but I'd still do it anyway.

This just happened
Yes, Alexander Wang's Nadia sandals are finally in my possession. It may seem that i resemble a handicapped giraffe stumbling in these magnificent shoes but luckily, that's my goal.

Share the Shearling
I may be jumping the gun on this one, considering it's August however, this jacket is the most beautiful piece of work I have seen in a while. Acne Studios, the famous Swedish label, has magnificently re-done the shearling Velocite jacket for the upcoming seasons. I would literally LIVE in this jacket if I had the option to.

Get to the Point
Shoes are without a doubt the most important part of one's outfit. If there's one thing you will take out of this blog, take this. Investment pieces are worth it. Especially when they're classic pointy toe pumps, booties, or flats. These will never go out of style and will always add a little pizzaz to your life. Exhibit A-F. Alexander Wang's Sabine pumps. This pair would be your go-to pump. Ankle strap, mesh and point. Enough said. Sigerson Morrison does it right with the Rocko cap toe booties. I love love love anything with a hint of metallic silver for a rocker-esque look balanced with a sleek style. Next up is a whole lot of love with Elizabeth and James Sand metallic pumps. This pair would be your "look at my feet" shoe. It would pair well with anything from a dress to black skinny's with a blazer (leather trim recommended). Moving on to the practical and comfortable Alexander Wang Astrid cutout flat booties. Let's say you're not feeling like you want to murder your feet, you can pick up these lovelies and enjoy a day/night of endless activities! Same goes for the Sigerson Morrison Prelta outside zip booties. These are an alternative to black (which you may notice, I am a fan of) and it also has a nice croc-like design in the back. Ending this cluster of amazingness is the Elizabeth and James Sash snake d'Orsay pumps. It's two-tone. It has snake and it's metallic (and we know I feel about metallic).

Fall Objects
Fall is almost here and it's time to shop. Now, here's what you should be looking for. A burgundy blazer by Helmut Lang to wear to your internship during the day transforming it into an outfit for a night out drinking with your intern buds. Next is the staple leather jacket. This Veda jacket will last forever and add the right amount of edge to anything. Let me just say I've had my Veda forever and it's easily one of my favorite staples. Two more tops your closet may be missing is this peplum by Elizabeth and James that will flatter any figure and compliment a nice pair of trousers, jeans, and a cool patterned pencil skirt. Lastly, of the tops, is the basic plain white blouse. You will be able to wear this with anything and everything I promise. Here's one from a favorite designer of mine A.L.C.
Now that we've got our tops out of the way, next comes the pantalones. Printed pants or denim are a must for every season. Current Elliott along with Rag and Bone clearly know what's up for Fall. These killer bottoms will make any Tee, blouse, sweater or if you're into it, Superman cape, an insane get up for a day of running errands to anywhere that serves booze. Last but not least, the coated Jbrand skinny is a MUST. Cheaper than leather pants but exact look alike. I think yes.

Random Obsessions
Recently, I've jumped back into my healthy binge of delicious fermented teas and hydrating coconut water. Not only do they taste weirdly good but they do have many benefits including detoxing your body of nasty toxins, helping with your skin and keeping you energized with no caffeine! I know this is random but I felt it was necessary to share this.
Try, they're awesome!

McFly is fly
Who knew Back to the Future could be used as one of my style references. Well, I did and I'm serious. McFly may have been bullied in his younger years by evil Biff but all I know is he was definitely stylin.
See: Orange puffer vest, denim jacket, plaid shirt.
This jacket is my fave. Along with Dr. Brown's metallic sunglasses.

CELINE
Phoebe Philo has come out with another breathtaking collection for one of my all time favorite designers, Celine. Philo has introduced us with two new designs for Celine's tote collection which will most likely be seen in every girls hands the second they can snatch them. Along with the totes, Celine's clothing collection has stuck to it's roots with it's exaggerated prints, loose fit, texture, and leather.
Enjoy!
